By Terdue Atondu, Makurdi

The Group Managing Director of the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, has announced that the Galleria Park in Makurdi is expected to commence operations in December 2026.

Asemakaha disclosed this during an inspection of the ongoing construction work at the amusement and recreational facility.

He said the project, upon completion, would provide residents and visitors to Benue State with a modern recreational centre aimed at promoting relaxation, entertainment and family bonding.

According to him, the facility will feature a serene environment, a waterfall and a 1,000-capacity event centre designed to host weddings, conferences and other social gatherings.

He added that the park would provide families with a suitable place to unwind, particularly during holidays, while also creating opportunities to showcase and patronise products manufactured by BIPC-owned companies.

The BIPC boss commended the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for creating an enabling environment for the company to revive dormant state-owned assets.

He described BIPC as a special purpose vehicle and a key engine for driving investment, economic growth and development across the state.

Asemakaha further disclosed that the project was expected to create more than 100 direct jobs and over 500 indirect employment opportunities for youths when fully operational.

He also encouraged Benue youths to acquire technical and construction-related skills, pointing to the Korean workers handling the project as an example of the opportunities available to skilled young people.

The GMD urged artisans working on the project to intensify their efforts and accelerate the pace of construction to ensure that the December 2026 completion deadline is met.

Responding, the leader of the Korean construction team, Kilm Kim Ann, assured BIPC management that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

When completed, the Galleria Park is expected to boost Makurdi’s recreational and hospitality sector, while contributing to job creation, investment and economic activity in Benue State.
