Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, ahead of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
Oyedele will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the meetings scheduled to hold from October 12 to 18, 2026.
The meetings are expected to bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, development partners and other global economic policymakers to discuss developments in the global economy, financing priorities and strategies for sustainable economic growth.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Efe Ovuakporie, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Nigeria’s participation comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen macroeconomic stability, attract investment and translate economic reforms into increased productivity, business opportunities and job creation.
The statement noted that the meetings would provide Oyedele with an opportunity to engage with international financial institutions and development partners on issues relating to Nigeria’s economic priorities and position in the global economy.
It added that further details of the minister’s engagements and Nigeria’s participation would be communicated as the meetings progress.
The IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings provide a platform for global economic leaders to deliberate on major financial and development challenges and explore strategies to promote economic stability and sustainable growth.
