Adelabu Disputes Oyo APC Governorship Primary Results, Cites Membership Figures

Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has questioned the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Oyo State, saying the vote figures being circulated do not align with the party’s registered membership in the state.

In a statement issued Friday by his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, Adelabu alleged that the process was manipulated and rejected reports that Senator Sharafadeen Alli secured over 500,000 votes. He said the APC’s total registered membership in Oyo State stands at 153,640, well below the figure cited in some reports.

Adelabu, who resigned his ministerial position to contest the primary, lost to Alli. He urged party members and supporters to remain calm and await the official announcement of results before drawing conclusions.

The statement noted that Adelabu remains confident in his support base across the state, adding that figures collated from several wards indicated strong backing for him.

“Those in charge of the results need to be careful and not to be used by anyone to truncate or alter the results because it is already clear to us from what we are collating from each ward,” the statement said.

The dispute is expected to fuel further political debate within the Oyo APC as supporters of both candidates react to the development.
