The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group, BAT-IG, has launched its Engagement Programme and Media Enthusiast Platform aimed at connecting over 10,000 young Nigerians to government policies and development initiatives.
The programme was unveiled in Abuja on Thursday by the group’s convener, Hon. Bamidele Atoyebi, at an event attended by youth leaders, NYSC members, artisans, professionals, students and civil society representatives.
Atoyebi said BAT-IG was established as a grassroots-driven sociopolitical, humanitarian and policy-advocacy movement aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
“Our aim is to raise men and women to become walking carriers of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political strategy and spirit,” he said. “But beyond the name, BAT-IG is a movement of people who believe governance should not remain only in offices in Abuja. Governance must reach the grassroots.”
He explained that the new platform would train youths to share verified information on government opportunities, empowerment programmes and policy interventions through social media. Beneficiaries will be encouraged to post monthly videos detailing how they applied, got selected, and how the initiatives are impacting their lives on platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and X.
“Too many opportunities fail to reach the grassroots simply because people are not informed. Our mission is to bridge that information gap,” Atoyebi said.
The platform, he added, is designed to promote civic participation, policy awareness, digital advocacy and constructive communication between government and citizens. It will target graduates, NYSC members, skilled professionals, artisans, technicians and students to act as grassroots promoters of government programmes.
Atoyebi listed some of BAT-IG’s past interventions, including advocacy for electricity restoration in Rigasa communities with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, healthcare and welfare support for military and paramilitary personnel, educational initiatives with the Universal Basic Education Commission, and humanitarian outreach in underserved areas. He noted that the group’s recent push for youth employment opportunities had received recognition from the National Directorate of Employment.
“This initiative is not about spreading propaganda. We are asking people to share information, opportunities, experiences and hope,” he said.
He urged participants to uphold integrity, responsibility, discipline and patriotism, saying Nigeria’s progress depended on informed and engaged citizens.
“Leadership is tested by the courage to make reforms and build foundations for long-term growth,” Atoyebi said, noting that the Tinubu administration had continued to implement policies on economic recovery, education, youth empowerment and infrastructure.
He called on young Nigerians to use their voices and creativity to drive national development, saying, “Let today mark the beginning of a stronger movement of engaged citizens, empowered youths, and connected communities.”
The group said the platform would help amplify real testimonies from beneficiaries to ensure more Nigerians could access and benefit from government programmes.
