Aniori/Awgu/Oji River: Mitchell Ifeanyi Aniorji Joins 2027 House Race, Cites Weak Federal Presence

Businessman and political advocate, Hon. Mitchell Ifeanyi Aniorji has declared interest in contesting for the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency seat in the 11th National Assembly in 2027, citing inadequate representation and the need for stronger federal presence in the area.

Hon. Aniorji made the declaration while speaking to Journalists in Abuja shortly after he submitted his interest form on Tuesday.

He stressed that his decision was driven by what he described as a gap in effective representation at the federal level despite visible development efforts by the Enugu State government.

“The honest truth is that my people are actually not properly represented. And with the level of work I’m seeing our governor is doing, there is a need for federal presence in my place,” he said.

He praised Governor Peter Mbah’s administration for positioning Enugu as one of Nigeria’s top-performing states. “My governor is doing excellent work to make sure that Enugu is ranked one of the best states in Nigeria. After his tenure, he has gone fabulously well in these four years and I am actually connected with this project,” Aniorji said.

“That is why I believe that federal presence is highly needed in my constituency,” he added.

On his election strategy for 2027, Aniorji said grassroots support from youth, women, and party stakeholders would be key to securing victory.

“The most important thing is that the people are with me, the youth are with me. And I believe that with the level of encouragement I’m getting from the youth, I’m getting from the women and our party stakeholders, I’m definitely going to win the primary comes 15th of May, 2026,” he said.

Aniorji joins a growing list of aspirants positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections in Enugu State.
