President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reinstatement of M.S. Danjuma, Permanent Secretary, Finance (Special Duties), Federal Ministry of Finance, following the lifting of his suspension over an investigation involving a purported government agency.
Danjuma’s reinstatement takes effect from October 21, 2026, according to a letter conveyed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, dated October 22, 2026.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Friday, October 23, 2026.
President Tinubu had, on August 21, 2026, approved the suspension of Danjuma and two other permanent secretaries following a report by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The investigation concerned the activities of a purported agency known as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, allegedly promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze, with suspected involvement of some public servants in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
According to the statement, the President approved the lifting of Danjuma’s suspension after due diligence and directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to recall him to duty.
Danjuma is expected to resume his official responsibilities immediately and discharge his duties in accordance with the Public Service Rules, relevant regulations and ethical standards governing the Federal Civil Service.
The statement did not indicate whether the suspensions of the two other permanent secretaries had also been lifted.
The reinstatement marks a development in the administrative actions taken following the ICPC report on the alleged activities of the purported agency.
