Peter Obi Completes NDC Presidential Screening, Buys Nomination Form

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi says he spent over two and a half hours before the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential screening panel on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Obi, who recently joined the NDC after flying the Labour Party flag in the 2023 general election, said his educational qualifications, NYSC credentials, age declarations, and vision for Nigeria were scrutinized during the process.

In a statement on Wednesday, the former Anambra State governor said he was cleared and has now purchased the party’s presidential nomination form.

“Yesterday, May 19th, in Abuja, I attended the Presidential screening organised by our party, which took over two and a half hours. They carefully reviewed all my documents, including my degree certificates, NYSC credentials, and age declarations,” Obi said.

He added that he also answered questions on his vision for a “new Nigeria” and the kind of leadership the country needs.

Obi commended the screening committee, led by former governor Sam Egwu, for its thorough and professional approach, and thanked the party leadership for upholding the democratic process.
