The Benue State Police Command has joined the Nigeria Police Force and other government institutions across the country to mark the 2026 Customer Service Week with a renewed commitment to responsive and people-oriented policing.
The week, commemorated on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, has the theme, “The Extra Mile.”
In a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Orchia Peter Aondongu, the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus C. N. Nwadiogbu, psc(+), mnips, PhD, visited the B Division Police Headquarters in Makurdi as part of activities marking the occasion.

During the visit, Nwadiogbu interacted with police personnel and members of the public, stressing the need for officers to prioritise prompt response to complaints, professionalism and courtesy in their dealings with citizens.
He said every member of the public deserved to be heard, adding that legitimate complaints must receive appropriate attention and timely responses.
The Commissioner charged officers to embrace the spirit of “The Extra Mile” by going beyond the ordinary in the discharge of their duties, noting that the quality of service provided by the police remained critical to building public confidence and strengthening relations between the force and the communities it serves.
Nwadiogbu also engaged directly with members of the public at the division, listening to their concerns and complaints and assuring them of the Command’s readiness to address their needs within the ambit of the law.
The engagement, according to the statement, provided an opportunity for the Command to demonstrate its commitment to accessible, responsive and citizen-focused policing.
As part of the Customer Service Week activities, the Command also organised a free medical outreach, offering medical support to beneficiaries as part of its commitment to the wellbeing of members of the public.
The Commissioner noted that Customer Service Week should not be regarded merely as an annual celebration, but as a reminder of the responsibility of every police officer to serve the public with commitment, courtesy and professionalism.
He therefore urged personnel to make “The Extra Mile” a daily principle in their interactions with members of the public.
The Benue State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to professional and responsive policing, while working to strengthen public confidence and foster a positive relationship between the police and the people of the state.
