The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old housewife, Hauwa’u Haruna, for allegedly striking her co-wife, Jamila Adamu, 43, with a pestle, resulting in her death in Bauchi metropolis.
The incident reportedly occurred at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate and was reported to the C-Division Police Station, Bauchi, on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, who confirmed the incident, said preliminary investigations indicated that the two women were co-wives living in the same household.
According to him, Haruna allegedly, while acting under what the police described as hallucinations, picked up a pestle and struck Adamu on the forehead during a domestic incident.
“The victim fell unconscious following the assault,” Habib said.
He added that police officers documented the scene before the victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was pronounced dead.
Her remains, he said, had been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The police spokesman further disclosed that the suspect had been arrested, while the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Aliyu Sani-Omolori, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
