AGROMEQA EXPO 2026: ACCI Mobilises Investors, Tech Giants for Nigeria’s Agro-Export Drive

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced that the maiden edition of the Agricultural Mechanization for Export-Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA EXPO 2026) will hold from October 15 to 16, 2026, in Abuja.

The President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, made the announcement on Tuesday at a press briefing held at the Chamber’s headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, the Expo, jointly organised by the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied, in collaboration with ACCI, is designed to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural sector through mechanisation, technology, investment, value addition and export-oriented production.

The event, which was initially scheduled for the middle of the year, will now take place at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, Trade and Convention Centre, ACCI Complex, Km 8, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, Airport Road, Abuja.

Obegolu explained that the change in date followed consultations with stakeholders across the agricultural value chain and was intended to provide adequate time for exhibitors, investors, government institutions, development partners, farmers and other participants to prepare for the event.

He said the Expo would be held under the theme, “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,” stressing that Nigeria must move from largely subsistence agriculture to a modern, technology-driven and export-oriented sector.

“AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 is envisioned as a premier platform for promoting agricultural mechanisation, strengthening export-quality production systems, encouraging value addition, facilitating technology transfer, and attracting sustainable investments across the agribusiness value chain,” he said.

A major highlight of the two-day event will be its official declaration by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON.

The President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, OON, mni, is also expected to deliver the keynote address titled “Agricultural Export and the Role of Private Capital in Its Value Chain.”

The Expo is expected to attract policymakers, government representatives, agribusiness investors, agricultural machinery manufacturers, technology providers, research institutions, farmers’ associations, financial institutions, development partners, agro-processors, exporters, logistics operators and international organisations.

According to the ACCI president, participants will have the opportunity to explore advanced agricultural technologies, including mechanised farming equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, agro-processing innovations, packaging solutions and climate-smart technologies.

The event will also feature plenary sessions, technical discussions, workshops, business-to-business engagements and investment forums aimed at promoting technology transfer, mobilising capital and facilitating strategic partnerships.

Obegolu said AGROMEQA EXPO would go beyond an exhibition by serving as an investment marketplace where farmers, local producers, agritech developers, processors and other agribusinesses could connect with investors interested in mechanisation, processing, storage, logistics, packaging and export operations.

A live demonstration arena will showcase modern farming equipment and technologies, while a dedicated agro-processing and packaging platform will highlight opportunities for local value addition and improved competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

The Expo will also feature a Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition aimed at encouraging young Nigerians to embrace agriculture, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Obegolu stressed that agriculture remained critical to Nigeria’s economic transformation, but argued that the sector must embrace mechanisation, research, innovation, investment and stronger market linkages to realise its full potential.

He said the organisers were committed to using AGROMEQA EXPO as a platform to accelerate agricultural modernisation, create jobs, strengthen rural economies, improve food security and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional and global agro-export markets.

He therefore urged ministries, departments and agencies, private sector operators, financial institutions, development partners, research institutions, farmers’ groups and other stakeholders to participate actively in the Expo.

“With the collective commitment of government, the private sector, development partners, farmers, innovators, investors and the media, we are confident that AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 will become a flagship agricultural event, setting new benchmarks for innovation, investment facilitation, collaboration, capacity development and agro-export promotion,” Obegolu said.
