FG, Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation Push for Digital Shift in Nigeria’s Civil Service

The Federal Government and the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation are urging faster digital transformation in Nigeria’s civil service to replace manual, opaque processes in Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

President Bola Tinubu made the call on Wednesday at the opening of the 2026 International Civil Service Conference in Abuja, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. The 3-day event at Eagle Square drew over 5,000 participants from 16 countries under the theme “Reforms, Resilience, and Results.”

Tinubu directed MDAs to expand digital workflows as part of reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, said effective public sector reform depends on stronger government-private sector collaboration. In his keynote, “Public-Private Collaboration for Service Delivery and Innovation,” he argued that governance should be judged by tangible outcomes: timely passports, completed roads, functioning hospitals, smooth pension payments, and hassle-free business registration.

He urged business leaders to work with government to strengthen service delivery, noting that “no government can do it alone” and that the most successful nations are those where both sectors cooperate.

The foundation, returning as Diamond Partner, hosted an alumni-led roundtable, “Navigating Public Sector Reform,” with AIG Public Leaders Programme alumni, MDA heads, and private sector stakeholders to discuss sustainable reform strategies.

Executive Vice Chair Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede said the partnership reflects a long-term commitment to equipping public sector leaders with the tools and networks to deliver results. The foundation’s work builds on existing programs with the Federal Civil Service, including the AIG Public Leaders Programme, AIG Scholarships and Fellowships, and support for the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025.

Founded by Aigboje and Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, the foundation supports governance reform across Africa through funding, advisory services, and capacity-building to improve public service delivery.
