The Sokoto State Commissioner for Energy and Petroleum Resources, Hon. Sanusi Ibrahim Umar, has expressed confidence in preparations for the flag-off of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna State, assuring that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free event.
Umar said security agencies, medical personnel and emergency response teams had been mobilised to guarantee the safety of participants at the rally scheduled for Saturday.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna ahead of the event, the commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness, noting that arrangements were progressing smoothly.
“So far, so good. We are very happy. Things are going on well. We have the security agencies, medical services. All things are in place to make sure everything comes out fine,” he said.
The campaign flag-off is expected to attract governors and other prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the ruling party intensifies efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu’s second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Umar disclosed that arrangements had also been made to enable Nigerians who could not attend the rally physically to follow the proceedings through television broadcasts and designated viewing centres across Kaduna State.
He said viewing centres equipped with large screens and sound systems were being established at Gamji Gate, Badonawa and other locations to allow residents to watch the event live.
“We have more than enough space. As I speak to you now, we are setting up the stage, sound system and screens. We have facilities at Gamji Gate, Badonawa and different places in Kaduna so that those who might not make it to this venue can feel everything and see everything as it happens here,” he stated.
The commissioner explained that the arrangements would enable people at the designated centres to follow the proceedings and watch the President and other dignitaries during the campaign launch.
On security, Umar said personnel had been deployed to maintain order and prevent disruptions, while ambulances and medical teams would be available to respond to emergencies throughout the gathering.
He expressed optimism that the arrangements would ensure a successful campaign flag-off.
“With the systems we have put in place and the security agents on the ground, we are confident of a smooth campaign flag-off, by the grace of God,” he added.
Umar also declared the readiness of the Sokoto State APC to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election, stating that the party was targeting millions of votes for the President in the 2027 general elections.
He said the party would intensify grassroots mobilisation and voter engagement to consolidate its support base across Sokoto State and the wider northern region.
The commissioner’s remarks underscore the APC’s efforts to strengthen its political structures and rally supporters ahead of the presidential election.
The Kaduna campaign flag-off is expected to bring together party leaders, elected officials and supporters to formally commence the ruling party’s campaign mobilisation activities.
With northern Nigeria accounting for a substantial share of the country’s registered voters, the region remains a major focus of political parties seeking to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election
