Blood in Kaiama: Terrorists Overrun Military Base, Kill 2

Pandemonium as some Suspected terrorists have carried out another deadly attack on a military camp located in Kemanji community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, leaving three soldiers dead.

The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Monday, causing panic among residents as loud gunshots were heard across the area. Sources in the community said the attackers arrived suddenly and engaged troops in a heavy exchange of gunfire.

According to information gathered from a local resident who asked not to be named, the attack was swift and caught some of the soldiers off guard. The source noted that the area’s location near a border and surrounded by thick forest makes it vulnerable to such attacks.

He said, “Kemanji is a border community, close to the border, so there are thick forests around the place.

“Few of the soldiers were asleep around 3am today when the terrorists invaded their camp and killed three of them before others launched a reprisal attack on the terrorists.”

The report notes that the soldiers who survived the initial assault quickly regrouped and responded to the attackers. However, the damage had already been done with the loss of three personnel.

Residents in the area are said to be worried about their safety following the attack, as such incidents have raised concerns about security in border communities. Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the development at the time of this report.
