Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved the provision of official vehicles for Magistrates and Upper Shari’a Court Judges in the state, while directing relevant authorities to initiate processes for reviewing their salaries and allowances.

The governor announced the decisions on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, during the opening ceremony of the 2026/2027 Legal Year in Bauchi, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of judicial officers.

Mohammed said the interventions were aimed at strengthening the judiciary, enhancing the efficiency of judicial officers and ensuring effective delivery of justice across the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar,

disclosed that the judiciary was planning to establish additional High Court divisions in Ningi, Misau, Toro and Azare.

She explained that the proposed divisions would bring judicial services closer to residents, improve access to justice and reduce delays in the administration of court proceedings.

Justice Umar also revealed that the state judiciary generated and remitted ₦66,574,051.55 to the state government through court fees, fines and probate charges.

She noted that the revenue reflected the judiciary’s contribution to the state’s financial resources while carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.

FirmNews reports that the governor’s intervention is expected to boost the morale of judicial officers, improve service delivery and strengthen the administration of justice in Bauchi State.

However, stakeholders have stressed the need for prompt implementation of the approved vehicle provision and proposed salary and allowance review.

They also urged the state government and judiciary to sustain efforts towards establishing the additional High Court divisions and implementing reforms that would make justice more accessible, efficient and affordable to residents.
