Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has fulfilled his promise to provide a befitting house for Super Falcons forward, Francesca Ordega, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Nigerian football.
The governor fulfilled the pledge with the formal presentation of a residential property, Unit 10, Fountain Estate, Makurdi, to the international football star.
Represented at the ceremony by the Group Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, CFA, Governor Alia commended Ordega for her resilience, dedication and remarkable achievements in football.
He urged young people in Benue State to draw inspiration from her success, remain focused and pursue their talents with determination.
Alia described Ordega as a worthy ambassador of the state, noting that her accomplishments had brought pride to Benue. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating opportunities and supporting young people to realise their career aspirations.
The governor assured the footballer that his administration would honour its commitments to her, stressing that the house presentation was part of the incentives promised in recognition of her sporting achievements.
Responding, Ordega expressed gratitude to Governor Alia for fulfilling the pledge, describing the gesture as a major source of encouragement.
She disclosed that the promises made to her after the 2024/2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, including a ₦50 million reward and the provision of a house, had been fulfilled.
According to her, the only outstanding commitment is the naming of a street in her honour, adding that she had been assured that the exercise would be carried out next year.
Ordega also encouraged young people in the state not to abandon their dreams, urging them to embrace discipline, resilience and hard work as essential ingredients for success.
Also speaking, the Head of Business Development and Strategy at BIPC, Theresa Abeda, congratulated Ordega on the recognition and urged youths across the state to emulate her dedication, perseverance and commitment to excellence.
The presentation highlights the Benue State Government’s recognition of the footballer’s contributions to the country and its commitment to encouraging young talents to excel in their chosen fields.
