The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded more than 40 per cent of the results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal, IReV, as the collation process continues.
According to figures on the commission’s portal, 1,517 out of the 3,763 expected polling unit results had been uploaded as of Saturday evening, representing 40.31 per cent of the total results.
The development followed hours of voting, sorting and counting at polling units across the state, with political parties, election observers and voters closely monitoring the electronic platform for access to polling unit results.
The pace of result uploads had earlier sparked concerns, particularly from Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who questioned the delay in making results available on the IReV portal.
In posts on his X account, Davido urged INEC to provide timely updates and ensure that the electronic results system was fully utilised during the election.
He wrote: “INEC, it is now 2:33 p.m., yet no result has been uploaded to the IReV portal. What is the delay? Nigerians deserve transparency and timely updates.”
The singer also urged voters to remain vigilant throughout the result-management process and ensure that the figures announced at their polling units were accurately entered into the electronic result forms.
“Make sure your polling unit results are uploaded on IReV in your presence and make sure the figures are entered on eEC8A (electronic EC8A). We will follow our votes bumper to bumper!” he posted.
INEC introduced the IReV platform to enable stakeholders to electronically view polling unit results and enhance transparency in the electoral process.
However, results displayed on the platform remain subject to the commission’s official collation, verification and declaration procedures.
With 1,517 results already uploaded, attention is now focused on the remaining polling units and the subsequent collation at the ward, local government and state levels.
