Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya elected First Female NBA President

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has been elected as the next President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), emerging victorious in the association’s national election conducted through electronic voting.

Badejo-Okusanya, the only female among the three presidential candidates, secured 12,317 votes to win the election, representing 47.18 per cent of the 26,106 valid ballots cast.

The 24-hour electronic voting process commenced at 7:35 a.m. on Saturday and officially closed at 7:34 a.m. on Sunday.

Her victory saw her defeat the two other contenders to become the first woman to lead the NBA, marking a significant milestone in the history of the legal profession in Nigeria.

The final results released after the close of voting confirmed Badejo-Okusanya as the winner, paving the way for her to assume leadership of the country’s foremost association of legal practitioners.
