39 Nigerians Evacuated from South Africa To Arrive Lagos Today

Thirty-nine Nigerian nationals are en route from Johannesburg to Lagos aboard an emergency Air Peace flight arranged to clear the backlog of citizens unable to board Thursday’s scheduled evacuation.

The additional flight was facilitated to ensure there is no disruption to the ongoing pre-scheduled evacuation, for Nigerians who completed their documentation within the stipulated deadline.

According to officials, the aircraft is expected to land at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, today, Friday, 10 July 2026, at 8:50 pm.

The government also expressed appreciation to the management of Air Peace for its collaboration and for making the extra arrangement possible.

Authorities said the last evacuation flight, expected to airlift approximately 300 Nigerians, will arrive in Nigeria next week.

The evacuations follow xenophobic incidents in South Africa that left many Nigerians stranded and in distress.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare, protection and safe return of all Nigerians affected.
