The Taraba state People Democratic Party’s Governorship Candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha on Friday received members of the “Project Win Your Polling Unit” initiative representing Tiv community residents across 7 local government areas of Taraba State at his Mararaba residence.
In a press statement released after the meeting, the senator said “Leadership is a divine trust” and outlined his vision for Taraba anchored on justice, transparency, accountability, and protection of public resources.
Addressing recent political moves, Bwacha explained his alignment with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said he left the APC when the governor joined the party, describing it as “strategic wisdom so that the governor will not take undue advantage of privileges available at the centre.” He added he remains “not antagonistic to the APC as the ruling party.”
On the PDP leadership dispute, Bwacha dismissed factional disagreements as “the handiwork of self-serving politicians.” Using a biblical analogy of two women claiming one child, he said: “This is a clear case of those who are already down seeking to pull down those who are up.” He insisted the truth on party leadership “is safely documented with INEC, not in the political opinions of individuals.”
The former senator pledged zero tolerance for corruption, saying public wealth “belongs to its citizens” and must be redirected to critical infrastructure. He also stressed security: “If you truly love your people, you will not steal from them, covet their properties, or compromise their security.”
Bwacha described young people as “the primary engine driving the movement toward a better and more prosperous Taraba State.”
Representatives of the Tiv community commended his message and called for a government based on meritocracy and protection of lives, especially in Tiv areas they said have suffered neglect under the current administration.
Speaking for the delegation, a Tiv leader pledged “total mobilization and support” for Bwacha and demanded an end to political favouritism and division. “If public employment and governance are conducted strictly on the basis of merit, our society will thrive. We are not asking for handouts. Our people simply want the security to cultivate their farms, produce food, and live without fear,” the leader said.
The delegation urged citizens, especially youth, to join the movement for a secure, fair, and prosperous Taraba.
In closing, Bwacha thanked the delegation for condoling with him over a personal loss, prayed for their safety, and wished them journey mercies.
