GESA Initiative Pushes Educational Innovation with SCARTIP Rollout Across Nigeria

The Grassroots Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition Initiative is advancing efforts to reform Nigeria’s education system through its School Child and Rural Teachers Innovation Project.

Led by Executive Director Cynthia Ifueko Obazee, GESA Initiative says SCARTIP is designed to expand access to inclusive, quality education for out-of-school children while strengthening teacher capacity in rural communities across the country.

The project has received endorsement from the Federal Ministry of Education and relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, which the organisers say reinforces its standing as a strategic national intervention.

SCARTIP focuses on improving access for vulnerable children, promoting teacher innovation and professional development, creating safe learning environments, and integrating climate education, creativity, and digital learning.

Implementation has already begun with digital training programmes for teachers in partnership with the FCT Education Resource Centre, Obazee said. She noted that equipping teachers with digital skills is central to driving educational transformation in the digital age.

“Teachers should not be left behind in a digitised world, and rural communities should not be left behind either. SCARTIP is bridging the gap and ensuring inclusive quality education for all Nigerian children and youths,” Obazee stated.

She called for broader support from government, development partners, private organisations, and other stakeholders to encourage innovation, critical thinking, and the use of digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence, in classrooms.

The project is also expected to promote sustainable learning systems, improve teacher effectiveness, encourage technology-enabled classrooms, and enhance educational inclusion for underserved populations.

Education stakeholders describe SCARTIP as a timely intervention that aligns with Nigeria’s goals on sustainable development, youth empowerment, and expanding access for marginalized communities.

GESA Initiative says it is positioning SCARTIP as a collaborative platform to drive educational transformation and community-driven impact nationwide.
