The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the recruitment of ad-hoc personnel for the conduct of the 2027 general elections.

According to the Commission, the online recruitment portal opened on September 18, 2026, and will remain accessible until November 18, 2026.

INEC stated that the recruitment process would be conducted strictly online, with interested and eligible Nigerians required to register through its official portal.

The ad-hoc personnel will support INEC’s permanent staff in the conduct of the elections, including duties at polling units and other levels of the electoral process.

The Commission’s official recruitment portal lists positions including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) personnel.

INEC also stated that applicants must meet the specified eligibility requirements and, among other conditions, must not be members of political parties or have demonstrated or expressed support for any candidate or political party.

The Commission urged prospective applicants to use only its official recruitment platform and comply with the prescribed registration procedures.

The recruitment is part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, which INEC has scheduled for January 16, 2027 for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027
