The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management and the African Public Relations Association (APRA), has invited local and international media organisations to provide extensive coverage of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) scheduled to hold in Abuja.
The forum, which is the first of its kind to be hosted in West Africa, will take place from November 15 to 22, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, under the theme, “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”
The National Planning Committee said the event is expected to attract more than 3,000 delegates from 126 countries, including presidents of public relations institutes, representatives of international organisations, government officials, royal fathers, ministers of information from across Africa and global business leaders.
In an official media invitation signed by the Chairman of the WPRF National Planning Committee, Dr Suleiman Haruna, and the Chairman of the Communication and Media Relations Work Team, Dr Muhammad Kudu Abubakar, the organisers described the forum as a historic gathering that would bring global communication professionals and stakeholders to Nigeria.
As part of preparations for the event, the organisers announced that a world press conference would hold on Tuesday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the FCT Press Centre/Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja.
The press conference is expected to provide updates on the forum’s programmes, level of preparedness, expected international dignitaries, security arrangements and logistics.
Those expected to address the media include the President of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Prof. Justin Green; President of NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku; APRA Secretary-General, Dr Omoniyi Ibietan; and Chairman of the WPRF National Planning Committee, Dr Suleiman Haruna.
The committee also announced that registration and accreditation of delegates and media representatives would commence on Saturday, November 14, from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. at the FCT Meeting Room, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
It stated that accreditation would continue until November 16, urging local and international journalists to present valid identification cards from their media organisations and letters of assignment.
Foreign correspondents are also expected to provide international press cards or passports as part of the accreditation requirements.
Highlights of the eight-day forum include the opening ceremony and presidential address scheduled for November 17, a high-level royal dialogue themed “Custodians of Trust” on November 18, the Global PR Summit and the APRA Summit on Responsible Communication in Africa.
Other activities include the Global Youth Summit and Young Communicators Forum, Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival, WPRF High-Level Women Conference, Conference of Presidents and CEOs of Public Relations and Communication Organisations, and the adoption of the proposed Abuja Declaration.
The programme will also feature a cultural night and a closing and awards gala.
The organisers emphasised the importance of media participation in projecting Nigeria’s hosting of the global gathering, describing journalists as critical partners in amplifying the voice of responsible communication.
Media organisations and interested correspondents have been advised to contact the WPRF Media Centre at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre or reach the organisers through media@wprf2026.com and wprf.nipr@gmail.com.
Additional enquiries can be made through the designated telephone and WhatsApp contacts provided by the National Planning Committee.
The forum is expected to position Nigeria as a major platform for global conversations on ethical communication, public relations practice and the role of responsible information management in building public trust.
