President Bola Tinubu will on Friday Today and Saturday visit Akwa Ibom and Rivers states to commission completed projects and participate in political activities as the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensifies mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The President will begin the two-day visit in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where he is expected to inaugurate several infrastructure projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the planned visit in a statement issued on Thursday, listing the projects scheduled for commissioning.
Among them are the new International Terminal Building, International Airport Hospital and Ibom Aviation Village, all located at the Victor Attah International Airport.
Other projects include the Airport-Okopedi Road, connecting communities in Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, and Ring Road 3, which links Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.
The President is also expected to commission the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, Command and Control Centre, as well as the ARISE Palm Resort.
Beyond the project inaugurations, Tinubu will attend a political rally in Uyo, where he is expected to engage with APC leaders, members and supporters.
In preparation for the presidential visit, Governor Eno declared Friday a work-free day to enable residents to participate in activities marking the occasion.
After concluding his engagements in Akwa Ibom, the President will proceed to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday to participate in an APC political rally.
Onanuga described the Rivers rally as Tinubu’s third personally attended campaign event since the launch of his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.
“The visits will also give President Tinubu opportunities to engage with political stakeholders, party members, and supporters while emphasising unity, political stability, and a shared commitment to national progress,” the presidential aide stated.
The visits come amid preparations for the 2027 general elections and growing political realignments within the ruling party.
Governor Eno, who was elected in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defected to the APC in June 2025, explaining that the decision was aimed at aligning Akwa Ibom State with the Federal Government to improve access to federal support and development opportunities.
Since joining the ruling party, Eno has openly declared support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, making the planned Uyo rally another demonstration of the political alliance between both leaders.
The President’s planned participation in the two rallies also follows his earlier explanation that he would not personally attend campaign activities in every state because of the responsibilities of his office, the country’s financial obligations and the need to attract investors.
Speaking at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 14, Tinubu said he would not accompany the campaign team to every state.
His appearance at the Kaduna rally on October 24 marked his first personally attended campaign event since the campaign was launched.
The planned visits to Akwa Ibom and Rivers states signal further presidential involvement in the APC’s political mobilisation as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections
