Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has unveiled his policy agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections, promising an economic reset, stronger institutions and accountable governance if elected president.
Makinde unveiled the manifesto at a meeting with party leaders and members of the diplomatic corps in Abuja, where he outlined his vision for addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, strengthening national security, improving education and enhancing the quality of life of citizens.
The APM presidential candidate said his proposed administration would be assessed based on measurable achievements rather than political promises, stressing the need for governance that delivers tangible benefits to Nigerians.
According to him, the manifesto was developed through consultations across the country’s geopolitical zones and reflects the concerns and expectations of Nigerians.
On the economy, Makinde pledged to address the structural challenges responsible for the rising cost of living, boost local production, reduce the cost of doing business and create a more competitive environment for Nigerian enterprises.
He maintained that economic growth must translate into improved living standards, employment opportunities, increased incomes and affordable living conditions for citizens.
The manifesto also places emphasis on strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture, improving the education sector and addressing the country’s socio-political challenges through effective institutions and responsible leadership.
Makinde further promised to introduce a governance framework anchored on clear responsibilities, implementation timelines and measurable performance targets to ensure accountability across government institutions.
He urged Nigerians to scrutinise the proposals contained in the manifesto and hold his administration accountable for delivering on its commitments if given the mandate.
The governor said his proposed national reset was designed to move Nigeria away from governance driven by political rhetoric and statistics towards a system focused on practical results and improved welfare for the people.
The unveiling of the manifesto marks the presentation of Makinde’s policy direction to Nigerians as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
