Barely three months to the 2027 General Elections, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated its newly acquired national secretariat in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen its organisational structure and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Monday in the Jabi area of the Federal Capital Territory, shortly after an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Those in attendance included the NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas; the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, Senator Victor Umeh, who represents Anambra Central in the National Assembly; and the party’s Rivers State governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, among other party leaders and members.
The newly acquired facility is expected to serve as the party’s national operational base and presidential campaign headquarters as it intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The development marks a significant step in the NDC’s efforts to establish a central hub for coordinating its political activities, strengthening internal structures and expanding its national presence ahead of the polls.
The party, which has positioned itself as an alternative platform for opposition forces seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to use the secretariat to coordinate its nationwide operations and campaign strategies.
Congratulating party members and supporters on the development, Dickson described the new secretariat as a unifying centre for the party.
He referred to the facility as the party’s “newly acquired Noah’s Ark”, saying it would provide a befitting home for all members.
The inauguration comes as political parties begin positioning themselves and consolidating their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
