The Federal High Court has admitted two documents tendered by the prosecution in the ongoing trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

The documents, including an email and an accompanying certificate, were tendered before Justice Anineh during proceedings on Tuesday.

When shown the documents, the ninth prosecution witness (PW9) confirmed that he could identify them.

The prosecution subsequently sought to tender the email and the certificate attached to it. Counsel to the defence, Ojo, SAN, said he had no objection to their admission.

Justice Anineh consequently admitted the documents in evidence and marked them as Exhibits AH1 and AH2 respectively.

Following the completion of questioning, PW9 was discharged from the witness box.
The court thereafter adjourned the matter until October 7, 2026, for cross-examination and continuation of the trial.

Emefiele is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a four-count charge bordering on alleged disobedience to lawful directives and unlawful acts said to have caused hardship to members of the public in connection with the controversial naira redesign policy.

The prosecution alleges that the former CBN governor’s actions in the implementation of the policy resulted in significant difficulties for Nigerians.
