The Management of National Pilot Newspaper has announced the successful settlement of salary arrears owed to 40 members of staff, with a total of ₦29 million disbursed in two batches.
The salary arrears, which covered a period of 29 months, arose from financial and operational challenges experienced by the newspaper from 2017.
According to the Management, the company’s financial situation has since improved, enabling it to meet its salary obligations consistently.
It said that for more than five years, National Pilot Newspaper had paid the salaries of its employees promptly and regularly.
The Management disclosed that it had sought the intervention of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki during the difficult period, noting that the former Senate President provided financial assistance that contributed to efforts to address the outstanding obligations.
The first batch of the settlement involved the payment of ₦18 million to 30 staff members, representing their outstanding 29-month salary arrears.
In the second and final batch, another ₦11 million was paid to the remaining 10 affected staff members.
With the completion of the exercise, the Management said the 29-month salary arrears owed to all 40 affected staff members had been fully settled.
The Management described the development as a significant milestone in its commitment to staff welfare, organisational stability and the continued growth of National Pilot Newspaper.
It expressed appreciation to Saraki for his intervention and financial support, describing his assistance as a demonstration of compassion and concern for members of the National Pilot family.
