The initiative is aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s investment opportunities across the oil and gas value chain and attracting strategic investments into the country.
The inaugural meeting of the committee was held at the RMAFC headquarters in Abuja and chaired by the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, OFR, who was represented by the Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State and Chairman of the Investment Monitoring Committee, Hon. He tasked the committee with developing a comprehensive framework for the event, identifying priority investment opportunities, coordinating the participation of stakeholders and facilitating engagements with prospective investors and partners in China.
According to him, the forum will provide opportunities for business-to-business engagements, investment matchmaking, technical presentations and policy dialogue.
He said the engagements were expected to promote sustainable partnerships and strengthen economic cooperation between Nigeria and China, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
The RMAFC Chairman also reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to collaborating with relevant government agencies and stakeholders, within its constitutional mandate, to support initiatives that enhance investment, improve revenue generation and promote sustainable economic development.
The inauguration of the committee marks the commencement of coordinated preparations for the China Oil and Gas Investment Forum, which is expected to further expose Nigeria’s oil and gas investment opportunities to the international market.
Members of the Planning Committee include representatives of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority and Nigeria-China Business Council.
The Director of the Gas and Investment Department of RMAFC and other officials of the department are also members of the committee.
Also in attendance were the Federal Commissioner representing Kogi State, Hon. Abdulaziz Idris King, and other members of the Investment Monitoring Committee.
