Plateau Imposes 12-Hour Curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Mangu

The Plateau State Government has imposed an immediate dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas following emerging security concerns in the three local government areas.

The government announced the restriction on Monday, September 21, 2026, directing residents to remain indoors between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily until further notice.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, announced the directive on behalf of the state government.

According to the statement, the curfew was introduced to enable security agencies to stabilise the affected areas, protect lives and property and prevent further deterioration of law and order.

Residents in the affected local government areas were directed to comply fully with the restriction and schedule their commercial, agricultural and other activities within the permitted hours.

The government also ordered security agencies to strictly enforce the curfew across Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu.

In addition, the state government announced an immediate ban on the use of motorcycles within the affected jurisdictions as part of measures to address the security situation.

It assured law-abiding residents that security personnel deployed to enforce the directives would conduct their operations professionally.
The measures followed a series of reported attacks, attempted attacks and reprisal incidents in parts of Plateau State, particularly in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu, leading to increased security deployments and patrols.

The government urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and adhere to the restrictions until further notice.

The directive was signed by Commissioner Ramnap on behalf of the Plateau State Government.
