Kaduna: Troops Thwart Massive Cattle Rustling, Rescue Over 500 Cattle

Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attempt by terrorists to rustle cattle in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, recovering more than 500 cattle.

The operation was conducted on September 8, 2026, following a distress call from residents over the activities of suspected terrorists at Rugar Mande Kurmin.

According to the Joint Task Force, troops swiftly mobilised to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and established blocking positions to prevent their escape.

The troops subsequently engaged the criminals from multiple positions, forcing them to retreat in disarray and abandon the cattle they had rustled.

All the recovered cattle were subsequently secured and handed over to their respective owners.

The successful operation, according to the military, underscores the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property while disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists freedom of movement across the Joint Operations Area.

The Theatre also urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information to assist ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorist elements and other criminal groups within the area.

The statement was signed by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on September 9, 2026.
