Nigerian troops have arrested several suspected terrorist logistics suppliers, informants and spies as intensified military operations continue to disrupt insurgent networks and degrade terrorist activities across the North East.
The arrests were recorded between August 31 and September 3, 2026, during operations conducted under Operation Hadin Kai in Borno and Yobe states.
In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, the military said the suspects were apprehended as troops sustained offensive and intelligence-driven operations against terrorist groups across the theatre.
According to Onoja, troops also intercepted an individual who escaped from terrorist captivity in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
He said troops engaged terrorists at several locations in Borno and Yobe, neutralising fighters and recovering weapons and ammunition.
The military spokesman added that sustained pressure on the terrorists contributed to the surrender of 21 women and children in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, who reportedly fled following clashes between rival terrorist factions.
Operations Intensify Across North West
Beyond the North East, the military said troops also recorded significant successes against terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements in different parts of the country.
In the North West, troops operating under Operation Fansan Yamma reportedly killed two terrorist kingpins during a raid in Katsina State.
The troops also intercepted a vehicle in Kaduna State conveying 793 rounds of ammunition, which were allegedly concealed in a sack of grain.
In Zamfara State, soldiers recovered a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, rifles and ammunition during an ambush operation.
The operations also resulted in the rescue of 31 abducted civilians, comprising six victims in Kebbi State, 23 in Zamfara State and two in Katsina State.
Troops further destroyed a terrorist camp in Bilange Forest, Sokoto State, where they recovered military uniforms, identification cards and a rifle.
Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims in Other States
In Kogi State, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke neutralised a suspected terrorist and rescued two kidnapped women, while additional operations in Taraba State led to the arrest of several criminal suspects.
Similarly, troops rescued five kidnapped farmers in Niger State and arrested a suspected terrorist fighter in Kwara State.
In the South East, troops operating under Operation Udo Ka arrested individuals suspected of providing support to secessionist elements and others allegedly linked to attacks on security agencies.
The Defence Headquarters said the latest operational successes demonstrate the military’s continued efforts to dismantle terrorist support structures, disrupt logistics and supply networks, and improve security across the country.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, commended the troops for their commitment and urged Nigerians to continue providing credible and timely intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
