The Vice-Chancellor of Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), Prof. Timothy Alabar, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of staff and students, as well as infrastructural development, as key priorities of his tenure.
Alabar stated this on Monday in Makurdi while presenting a six-month scorecard of his administration, outlining major achievements and initiatives recorded since assuming office.
He said his administration had remained focused on creating a conducive environment for teaching, learning and research, with the welfare of staff and students serving as a major pillar of its agenda.
“My vision is for the university to be among the top, and it is driven by vigour.
“I am committed to creating a conducive environment for both teaching and learning.
“We have initiated programmes where we engage students in constructive dialogue as partners,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

According to him, prioritising the welfare of staff and students would provide the necessary conditions for the university to effectively fulfil its mandate.
Alabar said the achievements of his administration within the first six months were organised around five key areas: academic development, research, community service, physical development and engagement initiatives.
He disclosed that the University Council had approved the retention of students who emerged as the best graduating students of their respective sets as part of measures to reward academic excellence and hard work.
The Vice-Chancellor also revealed that five academic programmes secured full accreditation within the period under review, while two others obtained interim accreditation.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Member George-Genyi, said the welfare of staff and students, coupled with the development of strong infrastructure, remained central to the Vice-Chancellor’s administration.
George-Genyi also commended the administration’s engagement with stakeholders, saying it had created opportunities for their contributions and perspectives to be incorporated into the university’s development agenda.
She pledged the continued and unalloyed support of the university’s staff for the Vice-Chancellor’s administration.
Earlier, the Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations (IPPR), Funmilayo Tolufashe, described the media as an indispensable partner in the development of the institution.
Tolufashe said the media played a vital role in projecting the university’s activities and achievements to the wider public, adding that the institution valued its partnership with the media.
She said the university had continued to make deliberate efforts to reposition itself and strengthen its operations across various fronts.
