SEC DG Says Miss Nigeria’s Global Success Will Boost Investor Confidence, National Image

The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Emomotimi Agama, has said that Nigeria’s participation at the 73rd Miss World Festival presents an opportunity to strengthen the country’s global reputation and boost investor confidence.

Agama made the remarks on Wednesday night during a send-forth reception organised in honour of Miss Nigeria, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja ahead of her departure for the international beauty pageant in Vietnam.

He described Karibi-George as more than a beauty queen, saying she would be carrying Nigeria’s image and aspirations onto the global stage.

According to him, every Nigerian who achieves excellence internationally contributes to improving the country’s reputation and reinforces confidence among investors.

“She is carrying the reputation of Nigeria. Every time a Nigerian steps onto the world stage with excellence, our national brand appreciates in value. That is the power of soft diplomacy,” Agama said.

The SEC Director-General stressed that positive global representation by Nigerians serves as a form of soft diplomacy capable of enhancing the nation’s standing among the international community while creating a more favourable perception of Nigeria.

Karibi-George is expected to represent Nigeria at the 73rd Miss World Festival, which will bring together contestants from more than 130 countries for cultural exchanges, humanitarian activities and various competitions.

The pageant will culminate in the grand finale scheduled for September 6, 2026, in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam.
