The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim has called on Nigerians to unite in support of Miss Nigeria, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, as she prepares to represent the country at the 75th Miss World Pageant scheduled to hold in Vietnam.
She made this during a send-forth reception organised in honour of the beauty queen at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The Minister described Karibi-George’s participation in the global pageant as a significant national assignment, saying she would represent Nigeria not only as a beauty queen but also as a cultural ambassador and symbol of the country’s resilience, creativity and leadership potential.
She noted that the Miss World Pageant has evolved into a global platform that celebrates leadership, purpose, culture and social impact, providing an opportunity for nations to showcase the talents and achievements of their young women.
According to Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Nigeria’s participation is aimed at promoting the nation’s rich cultural heritage, strengthening its international image and projecting the intelligence, ambition and creativity of Nigerian women before a global audience.
“This is about much more than winning a crown. It is an opportunity to present the richness of our cultural heritage, promote our creative economy and demonstrate the capacity of Nigerian women to lead and inspire on the global stage,” she said.
The Minister said the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises youth empowerment, women’s leadership and the projection of a positive national image.
She stressed that when Karibi-George steps onto the Miss World stage, she will be carrying the aspirations of millions of Nigerian girls who look up to her as a source of inspiration.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim assured that the Ministry would provide full institutional support throughout the competition, including preparations, travel logistics and welfare, to ensure Nigeria’s representative performs successfully.
She also commended the Miss Nigeria Organisation, partner institutions and other government agencies for their collaboration in preparing the country’s representative for the international contest.
The Minister urged Nigerians to rally behind Karibi-George with prayers and encouragement, expressing confidence that she would make the country proud.
She added that regardless of the outcome of the competition, the beauty queen had already accomplished an important national responsibility by earning the privilege of telling Nigeria’s story and showcasing the strength, brilliance and limitless potential of Nigerian women on one of the world’s biggest stages.
The 2026 Miss World Pageant, commemorating the competition’s 75th anniversary, will feature contestants from about 130 countries across the globe.
