The Assistant Director and Head of Corporate Communications at the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Onyilokwu Odeh, has been elected Chairman of the Ai’Agboko Community Development Association (ACDA), Abuja Branch, with a commitment to champion development across communities in the Ai’Agboko Clan of Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State.
Dr. Odeh, a communications specialist and former journalist with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), where he served for 15 years, was elected during the association’s recent polls held in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Ogah Akatu, the newly elected chairman unveiled a development-focused agenda aimed at mobilising government agencies, development partners, philanthropists and political leaders to address the pressing needs of the Ai’Agboko communities.
Speaking after his inauguration, Dr. Odeh expressed concern over the poor state of infrastructure in communities such as Upu, Edikwu, Asa I, II and III, Akpegede, Ogome, Ebologba, Ojantele, Ikobi, Otobi, Obagaya and Wards I, II and III of Otukpo Main Town.
He noted that residents continue to face challenges including inadequate potable water, poor road networks, substandard housing and limited access to quality healthcare.
He pledged that the association under his leadership would work closely with relevant stakeholders to complement government efforts in delivering sustainable development projects to the affected communities.
Accepting the mandate, Dr. Odeh thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to lead with integrity, transparency, inclusiveness and accountability.
He also paid tribute to the founding members and past executives of the association for their contributions, urging members to remain united in pursuit of the association’s shared vision.
“No chairman can succeed alone. The progress of our association depends on the collective commitment, ideas and support of every member. Together, we can build stronger and more prosperous communities,” he said.
Other members of the newly elected executive include Engr. Owoicho Ammo as Vice Chairman, Ina Ali as Speaker, Emiene Odeh as Chairlady, Ajumi Okidu as Vice-Chairlady, Ogamenyi Ikongbeh as Treasurer, Ugbodu Adakole as Financial Secretary, Emmanuel Odeje as Secretary, Isaac Adakole as Assistant Secretary, and Ogah Akatu as Chief Whip/Public Relations Officer.
The new executive is expected to lead the affairs of the association while driving initiatives that will improve infrastructure, social amenities and the overall well-being of the Ai’Agboko people.
