RMAFC Chairman, Shehu honored with 2026 African Business Leadership Award

The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, OFR, has received the 2026 African Business Leadership Award, ABLA, for Fiscal Governance and Revenue Accountability.

The award was presented at the 16th African Leadership Magazine Africa Summit held in London. It recognizes Dr. Shehu’s outstanding leadership, commitment to fiscal reforms, and contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s public finance system.

According to the organizers, the honour celebrates his transformative stewardship of RMAFC, marked by bold institutional reforms, improved transparency in revenue mobilisation, and stronger accountability in the management of public resources.

Since assuming office, Dr. Shehu has driven initiatives aimed at institutionalizing fiscal transparency, enhancing revenue accountability, and upholding the Commission’s constitutional mandate of ensuring equity and fairness in revenue allocation.

The Commission said his leadership has positioned RMAFC as a key institution in driving sustainable fiscal governance and supporting Nigeria’s economic development goals.

The award also acknowledges Dr. Shehu’s strategic vision, intellectual depth, and dedication to public service. RMAFC noted that his ability to manage the complexities of fiscal governance with innovation and integrity has earned him respect within government, the private sector, and across Africa.

“This well-deserved honour attests to his commitment to institutional excellence and continues to inspire confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal management system,” the Commission stated. “It reinforces the importance of strategic reforms in promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable growth.”

RMAFC congratulated its Chairman on the achievement and expressed optimism that the recognition would further spur the Commission’s efforts to deepen fiscal reforms, build public trust, and advance policies for equitable national development.

The Commission added that the award marks another milestone in Dr. Shehu’s distinguished public service career and will serve as motivation for greater contributions to national and continental development.
