NDIC, Nile University Host Industry Immersion Challenge for Business School Students*

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has partnered with Nile Business School, Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, to host the Executive Industry Immersion Challenge (EIIC), aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Speaking at the opening of the 4-day programme at the NDIC headquarters in Abuja, Managing Director/Chief Executive Thompson Oludare Sunday said the initiative was designed to address the widening gap between theoretical learning and real-world business practice.

ā€œThe rapidly evolving global work environment requires professionals who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical insight into the realities of the corporate world,ā€ Sunday said. ā€œThe Executive Industry Immersion Challenge has provided NDIC with a practical platform to expose participants to real-world experience in policy formulation, institutional governance, and public sector management.ā€

He reaffirmed NDIC’s role as a financial safety-net institution committed to promoting financial system stability and boosting depositor confidence. He urged the executive MBA students participating in the programme to adopt honesty, ethical conduct, good governance, and transparency as guiding principles for leadership and national development.

Ibrahim Aliyu, Director of Research, Policy & International Relations at NDIC and programme coordinator, said the EIIC was designed as an experiential learning initiative to connect academic theory with industry practice.

Representing the Dean of Nile Business School, Prof. Hauwa Lamido, senior faculty member Dr. Festus Ekechi said the corporation was chosen for its reputation for sound corporate governance, professionalism, and integrity in Nigeria’s financial sector. He added that the school would integrate lessons from the programme into its curriculum to ensure participants apply the knowledge in their workplaces.
