Court Grants El-Rufai N100m Bail, Sets Strict Conditions

Published on

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in the sum of N100 million.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who delivered the ruling, said the bail is subject to several conditions.

El-Rufai must produce one surety in the same amount of N100 million. The surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro, both highbrow areas of Abuja, and must be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17.

The court also directed that the surety submit the original Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property to the court registry. Proof of at least three months’ salary payment is required, and all financial documents must be verified by a letter from the surety’s bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.

The ruling followed arguments heard in court on Monday. Further details are expected as the case proceeds.
