The Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Tersoo Kula, has called on the people of the state to replicate their 2023 voting decision in the 2027 governorship election by supporting Governor Hyacinth Alia for a second term to enable him consolidate on his administration’s programmes and achievements.
Kula made the appeal in a statement issued in Makurdi, describing the Alia administration as a government committed to rebuilding and reforming the state across different sectors.
He maintained that the impact of the administration’s reforms was being felt by various segments of society, including traders, farmers, civil servants, pensioners and children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“This state, I mean Benue State, is being rebuilt and reformed. A woman selling yams in the market is happy. Farmers are happy; the state workforce is happy; senior citizens (pensioners) are happy; above all, the children of ‘nobodies’ are happy,” Kula said.
The governor’s spokesman described Alia as a blessing to Benue State, arguing that his administration should be given the opportunity to consolidate on the gains recorded since assuming office.
He noted that Benue State was bigger than any individual administration and would continue to exist beyond the tenure of successive governors.
According to him, the state has survived different administrations, including those of its first civilian governor, the late Aper Aku; the late Father Moses Adasu; Gabriel Suswam; and Samuel Ortom.
Kula stressed that Benue would remain the same state beyond Governor Alia’s tenure, regardless of who occupies the Government House, Makurdi.
He, however, urged residents to sustain their support for the governor through prayers and encouragement, expressing confidence that the administration had more programmes and projects to deliver.
“Alia needs your support and earnest prayers. Keep faith with the reverend gentleman; he has more to deliver for the state,” he assured.
Kula described 2027 as a decisive year for Benue’s political future, urging the electorate to stand behind Governor Alia, popularly referred to as Asortar U Benue, for re-election to enable him complete his ongoing programmes.
He said the support of the people would be important in determining the direction of the state as it approaches the 2027 general elections.
