Jubilation as Engr. Dr. Bola J. Mudasiru has been elected National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE).
The vast Engr. Mudasiru emerged during the institution’s Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on September 12, 2026, at the Nigerian Society of Engineers Auditorium, Akoka, Lagos.
His election comes amid ongoing concerns over infrastructure deficits, rapid urbanisation, road safety, climate change and the adoption of new technologies in Nigeria’s highway and transportation sector.
Mudasiru, a COREN-registered civil engineer and licensed professional of the World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE), has more than two decades of experience in road, bridge, civil and steel-structure projects.
His areas of professional expertise include construction management, project controls, cost estimation, regulatory compliance and strategic leadership.
He has held senior positions at P.W. Nigeria Limited, Mitcherutti Contractors, Palton Morgan Holdings, SCOA Nigeria Plc, Aquagrowth Nigeria Limited and Krisbol ESL.
Mudasiru is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), NIHTE (FNIHTE) and the Institute of Highway Engineers, London (FIHE).
He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (M.ASCE), International Association of Safety Professionals (M.IASP) and Project Management Institute (MPMI).
At the international level, Mudasiru is Vice President-Elect (Anglophone) of the West African Federation of Engineering Organisations (WAFEO).
He also serves on the NSE Board of Fellows and its International Relations Committee and represents Nigeria on the Executive Board – External Relations Committee of the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO).
In addition, he contributes to the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) Working Group on Engineering and Climate Change.
As NIHTE chairman, his professional background is expected to support renewed attention to highway development, transportation planning, road safety, infrastructure maintenance and climate-resilient transportation systems.
Mudasiru has served as a judge of the Nigerian Engineering Olympiad and delivered technical papers at various national and international platforms.
His recognitions include the 2024 Presidential Merit Award of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the 2025 CED Magazine Professional Man of the Year Award.
His election comes at a period when stakeholders in the sector are advocating stronger professional standards and sustainable approaches to the planning, construction and maintenance of Nigeria’s road and transportation infrastructure.
