DIA Investigates Killing of Senior Officer in Abuja

The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) has launched an investigation into the killing of one of its senior officers, Colonel A.A. Ude, who was attacked by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Agency said the officer was fatally attacked around 10:45 p.m. on July 27 at his home in Phase 5, Army Housing Estate, Kurudu, while resisting an attempt by the assailants to abduct him.

The DIA described the incident as a tragic loss, noting that the late officer served Nigeria with exceptional dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to the nation’s defence and security.

According to the Agency, security and law enforcement agencies have commenced a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and ensure that those responsible are identified, arrested and prosecuted.
It said the Agency is working closely with relevant security authorities to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The DIA extended its condolences to the family of the deceased officer, his colleagues and the Armed Forces of Nigeria over the loss.

Despite the tragic incident, the Agency reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s security and pledged to continue collaborating with other security agencies to ensure those behind the killing are held accountable.
