Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has congratulated Dr. Amos Dangut on his appointment as Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), describing it as a “proud moment for Plateau State and Nigeria at large.”
In a congratulatory message issued Sunday through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor said the appointment was well-deserved and a testament to Dangut’s competence, integrity, and dedication to education.
Mutfwang described Dangut as an “illustrious son of Plateau” with a distinguished career and remarkable contributions to the education sector. He expressed confidence that the new WAEC boss would deploy his experience to strengthen the Council’s operations and enhance educational standards across West Africa.
The governor urged Dangut to use his office to “deepen transparency, promote innovation, and uphold the highest standards of credibility in the conduct of examinations.”
He noted that Dangut is an “astute scholar with extensive empirical research publications in both national and international journals,” alongside keynote presentations and conference papers that have earned him recognition across Africa.
“On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, I congratulate Dr. Dangut on this milestone and wish him a successful, impactful, and enduring tenure,” Mutfwang said.
WAEC conducts the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for over 2 million candidates yearly across Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The Gambia. The Registrar/CEO is the Council’s chief administrative and academic officer.
Dr. Amos Dangut’s appointment was announced by WAEC Headquarters in Accra. He succeeds Dr. Pateh Bah, whose tenure ended in March 2026.
